Aliens vs. Predator: Preview Friv Game

New Aliens vs. The Predator is already close to the home stretch. The developers are going to release the Friv game in February, but they still show the finished product very carefully. We knew about the online mode only by hearsay, and we saw the campaign only about the Predator (and even then on the Internet on YouTube). And at IgroMir we found a working version of AvP, one of the creators of the project, and a whole stand where you could feel the multiplayer. In general, with an empty hand ... that is, they were not going to leave their heads.

However, getting information from the developers is not so easy. For some reason they did not want to go upstairs with us (interviews were taken in the basements of 1C) and show multiplayer in person. There were also minor problems with the single player Friv game - it was decided not to show the scenarios for the Marines and Aliens. Therefore, we largely had to figure it out on our own or abundantly attack the creators with questions.

Well, let's start with what is usually talked about first of all - with the plot. Since the inception of Aliens and Predators, his type has not changed. We have before us a simple banal story with a gray start. People on one of the planets find a huge lair of Aliens, where thousands of their eggs are laid. A detachment of marines is sent there, so that they smash everything there and then remove after themselves. They arrive in an unknown world, ready to meet the Aliens there, but stumble upon the Predators. It turns out that this is their hotbed planet. So here are three races that really dislike each other.

There will be three campaigns, respectively. With goals like "kill them all", "kill them all in N seconds" and "kill them all in place N". In the mission for the Predator, for example, we were ordered to first cut all the Marines on the path, then in the forest, and then inside the base.

On the other hand, we weren't expecting an RPG or action movie with deep connotations. So, like films about Aliens and Predators, AvP will take on dynamics and beauty. Are we sure of this? Well, let's just say, almost. For something interesting have already been seen.

We play. The predator is hiding from the Marines in the trees. He is invisible, and even if the enemy comes close, they will not notice him. The sensations are quite funny, we jump off, and a man is standing right in front of us, but he cannot do anything, because he does not know that we are here. He sneaks up, takes careful steps, after five seconds he will crash into our chest, but then the developer suggests that a collision can be avoided. And we use a trick - we send out a sound signal from the other side of the path. How it works is not clear. But the Predator does such things very easily. The Marine is led to this, turns his back, and, as it turns out, makes a big mistake.

We literally pressed two or three buttons, and now the Predator pounces on the poor man from behind, hits him on the back of the head, and then rips his head out of his body and looks into her eyes. The spine dangles from below, blood is pouring, the victim's face depicts either horror or great surprise. All this lasts quite a long time - about ten seconds. And during this time, those five liters of blood that are contained in the human body are plentifully poured around.

And before the other soldiers have time to react, we again become invisible and jump up a tree. Spectacular AvPcan really brag. True, such bloodiness (the Predator as soon as he did not perverted during the murders: he pulled out everything that was torn, pierced everything that was pierced) was boring even for half an hour. Yes, and the hero shows sadistic inclinations rather stupidly. We attack a squad of opponents, snatch one and ten seconds, like a butcher in the market, systematically and consistently cut the carcass, while the rest of the enemies shoot at us, inflict damage and kill. The question is, why doesn't the Predator just hit with a claw on his hand and finish off the enemy in half a second? Some strange oddity...

However, I repeat, it looks great. All these disappearances, reappearances, surprise attacks and fatalities. But in addition to beauty, there was also tactics. Anyway, on a mission for the Predator. We cannot attack openly. Although we easily tear off people's heads, we do not like it very much if many, many bullets fly at us quickly and quickly. Health immediately becomes unimportant, my head is spinning, I want to die...

Therefore, the Friv game for the Predator is special. A real stealth action movie. We are sitting invisible somewhere above, watching people wandering below. If we move once more, then the little men will simply open fire for prevention. Therefore, we try to distract them, throw in the bait (again the same voice somewhere else), then with rustles and noises we do so that the enemies are divided and we try to cut everyone out one by one. In which case, we open fire. But we always have little energy, and therefore we really don't want to waste it on trifles. Better to hide once more and wait it out.

One thing we didn't like about the Predator. You have to jump very sadly. We do not run away, and then we press the spacebar and fly over the abyss, and with the mouse we select the point where our hero should be, then we click LMB, and the fighter does everything himself. No dynamics is felt. You can't, like Wolverine, jump from tree to tree. Everything happens monotonously, without a spark.

What else have you isolated from the Friv game? We saw a fight with Aliens. They attack in flocks, and the Predator knows how to turn on special vision to detect them. Fighting them is more difficult than fighting people. They are faster (but not as fast as in previous installments), but their blood did not damage. It seems the acid has become harmless.

But group fights along with other Predators should not be expected. They are all loners. And if they see each other, then one of the fighters is usually dead, and the second activates his self-destruction.

About other campaigns we were told practically nothing new. We tried to interrogate the developer, but he answered evasively and did not want to show anything. But the following became known for sure.

Campaigning for people will be the hardest. Predators and Aliens are hunters. They hunt down victims, attack them and rarely defend themselves. But the Marines are the weakest. They are slow, walk only on the ground and after the first attack they can die. Moreover, they always wait for an attack, but they themselves are only defending themselves. It is almost impossible to catch the Predator by surprise ... The only plus of people is that they have long-range and powerful weapons. If they can keep the enemy at a distance and shoot accurately, then they will win.

It's hard to say anything specific about Aliens. They run on walls, run on ceilings, run, in general, as they want. The developers added useful things to them for orientation in space - this is the only thing that the developer told us. Perhaps letting them fight in flocks would be fun.

We had to deal with multiplayer on our own. We went upstairs, found the coveted group of computers and tried out the most interesting mode - Predator Hunt.

One of the players becomes the Predator, against him a group of marines. The task of the first is to kill everyone, the second is to kill an invisible enemy. It's pretty simple. Even the Predator status is passed on. It is received by the one who, in fact, nailed the reptile.

Without voice communication and coordination of actions, we fought rather stupidly. The predator walks unnoticed all the time, then suddenly attacks someone, kills him and disappears again. While the rest of the soldiers come running, he will hide and again beat someone.

Running alone is not fun as a soldier. For you don't know what to do. If a skilled enemy controls the Predator, then he will cut you apart in two seconds. Therefore, I had to just shake my head, shoot somewhere, be a little afraid. True, when someone was covering from behind, it became calmer and more pleasant. Even tactics appeared immediately.

The role of the Predator turned out to be much more interesting. First, you don't need to coordinate your actions with anyone, you don't need to rely on someone. Secondly, it's just fun to sneak from behind, watch people looking for something, fearing something. Alas, of the fun stuff, the poor Predator in this mode was left only invisibility. Can't create noises, neither can shoot. And I also didn't like that some schoolboy of about fourteen looked into the monitor and quickly found out where his enemy was hiding.

But in general, the impressions of the regime are quite pleasant. Liked. But that's just the map is insanely small, and you don't really know if you need a team to play or not. For the Predator is a transient person, and how to organize, for example, voice communication in such conditions? Vasya, Petya, Vanya and Anton are playing. The first three are Marines. They sit on Skype and talk - where to go, what to do. Here Petya kills Anton and becomes a hunter himself. Should he be thrown out of the conference? And there is no common goal, because as soon as someone kills the enemy, he becomes the enemy.

It turns out strange. It seems to be a command mode, but it is almost not intended for a team. If everything is alone, then the Predator tears up the Marines in no time, and if they play in a crowd, then everyone wants to kill the enemy himself , it's hard to talk about camaraderie and support here.

I had to ask the developer about other modes. There will be another Infestation, he reminds Predator Hunt, only here the main reptile is the Alien. And if he kills a Marine, then he turns into a slimy brother. The last one wins. Also fun for singles, who then suddenly become a team. And there can be no playable groups here, unlike Left 4 Dead , for example.

They also told us a little about the usual Deathmatch for eighteen people (the developer was reluctant to say something about him), and then immediately started broadcasting about the "Survival" mode. It's like a cooperative, where four marines have to go through several maps from beginning to end, and they will be attacked by Predators and Aliens all the time. By ear, this is already much funnier. Alas, Survival was not shown at IgroMir. Even journalists...

The Friv5Online again trying to prove that Aliens vs. Predator, they will do better than the rest. Once this Friv game became their star, but after it they did nothing better. And now they can either have a legendary comeback, or a funny point in their careers. AvP made them famous, but AvPmay bury. For if this project turns out to be "lousy", then the studio will hardly be entrusted with anything else...
